This page was created to share our journey of building and implementing High Impact Practices at Seminole State College, with the goal to hopefully make it easier for others who are trying to do the same.
Our goal is simple: share what we've created so you don't have to start from scratch.

August 2025 - Second HIPs Course Designation cycle launched for Spring 2026 courses
August 2025 - Three additional HIPs categories launched
December 2025 - Course Designation form launched for Summer and Fall 2026 courses

See the questions asked in the Course Designation Form in an easy-to-access Microsoft Word document. Sample completed forms are included on our website under the “Getting Started” tab. This word document is created in a Microsoft form that includes branching and is what is completed my our faculty to request HIPs Course Designation. The submissions are then reviewed by the HIPs Ambassadors, Academic Leadership Team, and any inconsistencies are reviewed by the Coordinator, HIPs and FCTL Director.

Year One outline timeline on starting the HIPs initiative at Seminole State College:
This includes tabling, workshops, form launches, etc.
One of our most recent resource addition is our Introduction to HIPs Faculty Canvas Training Course. This course created in collaboration with our eLearning department at Seminole State, walks faculty step by step outlining the large scale HIPs research, how HIPs are implemented specifically at our college, the taxonomy, then leads them to creating a submission for the HIPs course designation form. This canvas course is very interactive, with multiple check points offering faculty the opportunity to be provided feedback in a low stacks environment, reflection, and to even publicly display their final products. After year one, all team members agreed more structure and explanation was needed for Roles and Purpose. A team retreat was held and the Ambassador Agreement was created in collaboration.
