Headshots

Headshots will be provided a maximum of once per year to full-time faculty and staff who may need to represent the College with professional portrait photography for the following reasons: publications, speaking engagement material, Canvas profile.

Headshots are photographed from the waist up in the Marketing Suite Studio.  The studio is located on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus in room C 100-M.
Map: https://maps.seminolestate.edu

Please request your headshot through the Service Request System and note specific reason/need for professional portrait photography.

How do I prepare for my headshot session?

  • Decide which clothing colors, patterns, styles or accessories you prefer to represent your personality. Make sure clothes are ironed.
  • Be sure to check our mirror and use the provided supplies if necessary.  Studio lights tend to emphasize skin shine, fly-aways, lint, and clothing wrinkles. The use of oil absorbing sheets and/or powder is recommended. Remember to check buttons and jewelry clasp placement.
  • Trust the photographer and have fun! Remember you’re being guided by a professional who knows how to make you look your best.
  • The photographer will direct you, but don’t be afraid to bring ideas of your own.
  • We do minimal editing so you look like you. If there is something you’re concerned about, let the photographer know during your session.
  • Before you leave, you will have the opportunity to view your photos and select your favorite 1-2 images.
  • As soon as your photos have been processed, they will be available to download through PhotoShelter.

PhotoShelter Media Library

The PhotoShelter database is continuously updated and is available to faculty and staff to provide efficient access to college-owned photos. Click "Login" at the right top corner of the PhotoShelter homepage. Then please click on the gray Seminole State SSO button. All employees have access through the College's single sign on process.

Video

Begin with a plan
Before you start filming, come up with a strategy. What is your goal for this video?
Who is your target audience?

Keep it short
Social media users often have a short and divided attention span. Your video
should be 15 seconds or less. If you need to make it longer to educate or inform
more elaborately, make sure the video content is entertaining and engaging.

The first few seconds count the most
If video content doesn’t interest the user within the first 3-5 seconds, the chances
of them watching the full video starts to diminish. Make sure to feature the most
important message of your video at the beginning.

Include subtitles
Many users watch videos on mute. Subtitles ensure that they can understand
your video. It is also important for the video to be ADA compliant by using closed
captioning.

End with a call-to-action
Do you want the user to enroll in a class, fill out a survey or attend a recruitment
event? Remember to include a call-to-action in your video to let the user know
what you want them to do.

Edit with ease
Download free Canva or CapCut - Video Editor apps to edit videos on your phone.

Sharing is caring
Include the College’s brand in your video. Say “Seminole State College” or have
the College’s logo visible in your shot. If you want to promote a program or class,
remember to say its name.

Post your video on your departments’ social media account or submit the video
with a Service Request ticket for the Marketing and Communications Department
to share on the College’s main accounts.

Use the College’s hashtags: #SSC and #GoStateGoFar and tag the College to
increase reach and awareness.

Film your short video on your cell phone or request loaner equipment at sem.st/mccam.
