Seminole State College will be receiving $8.1 million in Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding as a result of federal legislation passed in March 2020. Half of this amount will go to provide financial support for students whose education has been disrupted due to the coronavirus. Under the CARES Act, funding can be used for expenses related to food, housing, health care, childcare, course materials and technology. The College is currently working on a plan to distribute the funds to students and will share more details with the campus community shortly.

“Our plan is to distribute CARES Act funds as widely and equitably as possible, while prioritizing students with the greatest need," said Johnny Craig, Vice President of Student Affairs.  "My team is working hard to ensure that students facing challenges at this time receive the financial, academic and emotional support they need to get through the immediate crisis and continue their education. We are in this together. We will be communicating details of our plan shortly so students should check www.seminolestate.edu/alert regularly for updates.”

In addition to the funding provided by the CARES Act, students can also apply for federal financial aid by completing a Free Application to Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or update their FAFSA if their circumstances have changed. Scholarships are also available at www.seminolestate.edu/paying-for-college. Seminole State College students can also apply for emergency aid through Destination Graduation, a partnership between the College and the Heart of Florida United Way.
