Honors Academics
Honors Diploma
The Honors Diploma requires 18 credit hours of honors courses and a minimum 3.4 cumulative GPA at the time of graduation.
Graduation Requirements:
- Completion of 18 Honors Credits including
- IDH 2703 Honors Leadership Development (required)
- Minimum cumulative 3.4 GPA
- Students must be enrolled in an A.A. program.
Advice:
- Honors courses can also meet the general education and core requirements.
- Students should be strategic in course selection to minimize the number of elective credits taken by honors courses.
- Students entering the program Fall 2025 or later need to complete the 18 honors credits in year one to be eligible for scholarship money.
Honors Certificate
The Honors Certificate is no longer available effective fall 2021. Students who started the program prior to fall 2021 will remain eligible to earn the Honors Certificate.
The Honors Certificate requires 13 credit hours of honors courses and completion of volunteer hours.
Graduation Requirements:
- Completion of 13 Honors Credits including
- IDH 1920 Introduction to Honors
- Minimum cumulative 3.4 GPA (3.2 for students who entered prior to fall 2020)
Honors Courses
Honors courses are an important component of the honors experience. The Honors Institute emphasizes small classes, generally limited to 20 students, interdisciplinary and team-taught courses, and other engaging learning experiences.
Honors in the Major
The Honors in the Major program is available to students in selected baccalaureate programs. Students must complete a minimum of 9 honors credits at the baccalaureate level (3000 and 4000) and have a cumulative baccalaureate GPA of 3.5 at the time of graduation.
