School of Academic Foundations awards $15,000 in scholarships

Nine hard-working students have received some well-deserved help this Fall Term, thanks to Seminole State College of Florida’s School of Academic Foundations. The school awarded $15,000 in scholarships to the Adult High School and GED® Prep Program students to continue their postsecondary education at the College. The scholarships were awarded at the school’s Honors Ceremony this spring. 

Nicacia Diego Vasquez won the District Board of Trustees Scholarship worth $6,264. Diego Vasquez was an Adult High School honors graduate and is working toward her Associate in Science degree in Nursing.

As part of the Robert J. Schmidt and E.S. Douglas Scholarship, the following students were awarded $1,100 each to continue their studies at Seminole State:

•    Ahmad Mitchell 

•    Aquavionia Randall 

•    Brianalys Negron 

•    Crystal Jones 

•    David Coxon-Rewekant 

•    Julie Fils 

•    Kaitlyn Senart 

•    Thiffany Guardiola Torres 

The students will continue at the College and work on Associate in Science and Associate in Arts degrees in Physical Therapy, Nursing, Psychology and more. Coxon-Rewekant, Jones and Senart graduated from the GED® Prep Program with honors as well as earning their scholarships. In addition to Diego Vasquez, Guardiola Torres was also an Adult High School honors graduate. At the ceremony, Torres, Negron and Jones were included in the 19 students that were inducted into the National Adult Education Honor Society.
