At times during the course of the semester, a student may experience an unexpected crisis or event. Seminole State College provides appropriate referrals to students who have personal issues that impact academic pursuits at college.* Crisis situations may include:
- Death of a loved one
- Separation or divorce
- Health concerns
- Suicidal ideation or thoughts of suicide
- Depression
If you are in immediate danger, please call 911. If you are in crisis and the college is closed please call the After Hours Crisis Hotline listed below.

Confidentiality Policy
All information disclosed within a session, as well as the fact of signing up for services, is confidential and will not be revealed to anyone outside the Academic Advising and Counseling Department without written permission of the student, except under three conditions:
- Where disclosure is required by law (i.e. when there is reasonable suspicion of abuse of children or elderly persons, or by court-ordered subpoena).
- Where the student presents a serious danger of violence to another.
- Where the student is likely to harm him/herself unless protective measures are taken.
Students in need of personal counseling will be seen as a priority and appointments are not necessary.
