Advising is an interactive process between a student and an academic advisor. At Seminole State, students are assigned an advisor to help them navigate the academic environment and make sound decisions in pursuit of their education and career goals.
Students can view their assigned advisor in the MySeminoleState Student Center, and click on the advisor's name to view their contact information. Students are encouraged to meet with their assigned advisor or counselor each term to discuss, clarify and refine their educational pathways and objectives.
Counselors and academic advisors can assist students with:
- Getting started at Seminole State
- Navigating the college system
- Transfer information
- Program requirements
- Major selection
- Prerequisite courses for a major
- Educational plans
- Graduation audits
- College resources and support systems
- College policies and procedures
First-time-in-college (FTIC) and first-term transfer students entering Seminole State are required to complete the online Student Welcome. At the conclusion of the Student Welcome, you will be able to schedule your advising appointment. New FTIC students will sign up for New Student Orientation and Registration and first time transfer students will schedule a transfer appointment with their assigned advisor upon completion of the online Student Welcome.
- Current students can make an appointment with their assigned advisor or counselor to complete an educational plan .
Please note that if you do not have an assigned advisor or if your assigned advisor appointment times are booked at a time that is convenient for you, please walk-in to an advising office at the Sanford, Altamonte or Oviedo campuses.
