Advising for Incoming Students
First-Time-in-College Students
Once accepted to Seminole State College, first-time-in-college (FTIC) students must complete an online Student Welcome through MySeminoleState. After finishing the Student Welcome, they will be prompted to sign up for an FTIC Group Registration session. FTIC students are required to attend a group registration session to register for their first term.
During FTIC Group Registration, students will learn about the College's policies and procedures and receive specific information about the program they plan to study. Academic advisors will lead each session and help students enroll in their first-term classes.
To ensure accurate placement into classes, FTIC students should submit the following items to the college prior to their FTIC Group Registration session, if possible, and bring unofficial copies to the session:
- High school transcripts
- Test scores (SAT, ACT, CPT, PERT etc.)
- Proof of AB or IB credits earned
- CLEP test results
- Proof of completed Dual Enrollment courses
Transfer Students
Transfer students must complete an online Student Welcome through MySeminoleState. After finishing the Welcome, they will be prompted to register for a transfer appointment with their assigned advisor.
To ensure accurate placement into classes, transfer students should provide the following documentation to their advisor:
- Printed transcripts from all previously attended institutions
- Proof of AB or IB credits earned
- CLEP test results
Advisors will review all documentation to determine student’s first term courses.
Transfer students are required to submit their official transcripts to the Office of Enrollment Services. Enrollment Services will evaluate the transcripts to determine how much credit to award for previously completed course work and exams. Students must be active in a program in order to have their transcripts evaluated. Course selection may be limited until the evaluation process is complete, which takes up to six weeks.
