President's Message

Today ushers in a new chapter in Seminole State’s history as I begin my tenure as the

Dr. Georgia L. Lorenz

College’s third president. I am honored to be joining this community, and I am eager to embark on this journey with you. I’m confident that, together, we will build on the extraordinary achievements of the past 53 years to take Seminole State to new heights.

From the moment I applied for this presidency and arrived for my on-campus interviews, I knew that Seminole State was a first-rate institution and a very special place. I have been impressed by the College’s strong commitment to academic excellence and achievement, our open access mission, our students, and our community. What I found to be particularly distinctive is that the College recognizes employees’ opportunities for “development and success” as the No. 2 strategic goal. How appropriate, I thought, for the College to identify that we cannot achieve great things for our students unless each of us is equipped and empowered to be part of creating change. Of course, it is no surprise that the College has been recognized as a “Great College to Work For.”

With this College’s strong foundation and its greatest resources—each member of the Seminole State family—ever present in my mind, I have great ambitions for Seminole State. With your support, the College will continue to shine academically and provide a launch pad for students who want to continue their education or start or advance their careers. We will also serve as a nexus and resource for the community, facilitating connections and engagement between schools, colleges and universities, community organizations, chambers and business and industry.

To that end, I plan to “hit the ground learning” in the coming weeks, engaging with and listening to students, faculty and staff, alumni, industry and community partners.

As members of the College community and the community at large, you have each played an important role in Seminole State’s success. I hope you take great pride in this fact. The progress of the past has been nothing short of amazing, and the possibilities for the future are limitless. I welcome and encourage your continued advocacy as we “GO State. GO Far.” together.
This is indeed an exciting time to be a member of the Seminole State family. Thank you for welcoming me to Florida!

I look forward to seeing how far we will take Seminole State—together.

Dr. Georgia Lorenz, President
