President's Message

Dr. Georgia Lorenz

When I began my tenure as Seminole State’s third president, I was immediately drawn to the College’s student-centered outlook, open access mission and commitment to excellence. I pledged to honor that and keep the Raiders soaring to new heights.

The College continues to inspire me and I’m immensely proud of all we have achieved over the years. We were a top 10 finalist for the 2025 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, placing us in the top 1 percent of state and community colleges in the nation, dedicated to improving levels of student success and high-quality teaching and student support. We’ve achieved a 95 percent placement rate for our workforce graduates and 100 percent pass rate in many programs. We celebrated Seminole State’s 60th anniversary and its legacy – a legacy that took us from a handful of portables to six sites across Seminole County and from 750 students to over 24,000.

As Seminole State has grown, so has our role in the community. As part of the Florida College System’s Economic Impact Report, Seminole State was reported to have a $1.3 billion impact on Florida’s economy, supporting over 14,500 jobs in our region.

It is our people who make such an impact possible. The incredible students, employees and community continue to prove their excellence by forging new partnerships and innovations so we can keep serving our students. As we launch our strategic plan Impact 2030, I have encouraged everyone to commit to our strategy and implement it on a personal, team, department, division and collegewide level. We want everyone to know that Seminole State is Your Learning Partner for Career Success and no matter where you are in your college and career journey, education will propel you to new heights.

I promise to continue to engage with, and listen to, our College community. With committed students and passionate faculty, staff, alumni and industry and community partners – everyone is key to student success.

We have accomplished so much for our students and for our region, and now we must embrace our momentum, magnify it, and make the most of this moment.

Seminole State is on the move, and I know we will Go Far – together.

Sincerely,
Dr. Georgia L. Lorenz, President
