TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills)

The TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) is a comprehensive entry test used to assess students planning to enter certain Limited Access programs in Allied Health at SSC including Nursing A.S. and Physical Therapy Assistant A.S. .

The TEAS assesses:

  • Reading
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • English & Language Usage

Testing Eligibility

Applicants to the allied health programs are permitted to take the TEAS up to three times within a 12-month period and must wait 31 days between retakes. Test scores are valid for two years.

The Assessment and Testing Center offers TEAS to Seminole State students and non-Seminole State students by appointment only in person at Sanford/Lake Mary, Altamonte, or the Lee Campus at Oviedo.

Examinees requesting  to utilize testing accommodations should email testingcenter@seminolestate.edu a minimum of one week prior to the scheduled test date.

The test administration fee is paid directly to Seminole State College when you register for your appointment in SSAP -Testing Center. Students must be logged into their myseminolestate account during registration to secure student pricing. Please ensure that all testing eligibility requirements are met before making your appointment as Testing Fees paid to Seminole State College are non-refundable.

You can prep for the teas by using a practice assessment and TEAS prep materials available for purchase through ATI. The study manual is also available in the Seminole State bookstores and libraries.  In addition, Seminole State's Title III Program supports Preparing for the TEAS.

Examination Day Reminders

  • Prior to taking any examination, you will need to present a current, valid, and original government issued photo ID with a signature(e.g., passport, driver’s license or state-issued ID card).
    • Digital Identification is not permissible.
  • If your photo ID does not include a signature, a second ID is required with your name and signature (e.g., Social Security card, credit card or debit card).
  • If your exam requires payment, testing fees must be paid prior to sitting for the exam.
    •  Acceptable methods of payment include American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa debit/credit cards. 
    • Testing Fees paid to Seminole State College are non-refundable.
