Seminole State College of Florida has been awarded approval for a new Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) degree in Management and Organizational Leadership by the Florida State Board of Education (FDOE).

The degree offers a diverse curriculum that provides students with the skills and abilities to enter an in-demand, high-skill, high-wage workforce.

The program will offer concentrations in entrepreneurship and general business with a curriculum focused on learning the skills needed to effectively manage diverse groups comprised of individuals with varying communication and cultural styles.

Students will learn, grow, and excel in skills to effectively lead with integrity and character in virtually any leadership or management scenario. Coursework will cover real-world scenarios that allow students to enhance their critical thinking and communication skills. In addition, students will cover topics related to finance, leadership, professional ethics, analytical thinking, and team building.

“Business strategies may vary, but effective management and leadership are keys to success in any organization”, said Dr. Georgia L. Lorenz, president of Seminole State College. “Our bachelor’s degree in management and organizational leadership will prepare students to bring those skills and more to the table from day one.”

Management theories and principles will also be examined throughout the program. The coursework will conclude with a capstone project in organizational management. Courses are offered in face-to-face, hybrid and online formats to accommodate the needs of all students. As an option for students already in the workforce, the B.A.S. degree can be completed entirely online allowing students to choose the path that’s right for their career goals and an educational experience that’s tailored to their needs.

The Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Management and Organizational Leadership is pending accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states.

The Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) degree in Management and Organizational Leadership degree is one of four new bachelor’s degrees to receive approval by the FDOE.   This fall the College will begin offering two new education degrees, Elementary Education K-6, and Exceptional Student Education K-12, and one in Public Safety Administration
