Classes at Seminole State College of Florida will continue in online and remote format for Fall Term 2020, but a limited number of classes and services will be offered in person as part of the College’s plan for a phased reopening.

The College’s Safe Campus Reopening Task Force, representing all employee groups and the student body, presented the general recommendations to the Board of Trustees of Seminole State College during the Board’s June 15 virtual meeting. Recommendations were developed in consultation with employees, students, educational, medical and community partners.

Seminole State’s phased reopening plan will begin July 6. Classes for Fall Term will begin Aug. 24 as scheduled. According to the plan, aside from online and remote classes, essential classes and programs requiring a hands-on or face-to-face component – such as clock hour programs, studio courses, laboratories, clinicals, etc. – will be scheduled and run following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Florida Department of Health (FDOH) guidelines for social distancing, hygiene, personal protective equipment (PPE) and cleaning protocols. In addition, masks or cloth face coverings will be required for students, employees and visitors when inside any building on campus or when maintaining 6 feet of physical distance is not possible.

Seminole State’s reopening plan, which was developed following input from employees and students, takes into account every aspect of operations so that the College can open its campuses safely, maintain the health of its community and support students in reaching their academic goals.

The College has developed a reopening report, Raiders Return, which outlines the plan phases and precautions to be taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This report will be updated as more details become available. For more information on Seminole State’s phased reopening plan, visit seminolestate.edu/reopening
