The Center for the Fine and Performing Arts at Seminole State College of Florida is proud to present Flamenco del Sol’s “Carmen” on April 26 and 27 at 7:30 p.m. and “Feria de Abril” on April 28 at 2 and 7:30 p.m. The shows will take place in Harriett’s Theatre (building G)  on the College’s  Sanford/Lake Mary Campus.

“Carmen” tells the story of a tragic love triangle between volatile and fickle Carmen, low-ranking and naive soldier Don Jose, and dashing bullfighter Escamillo. This stunning adaptation showcases George Bizet’s operatic score and traditional flamenco music layered over Prosper Merimee’s storyline. Flamenco del Sol’s Artistic Director Tamara Weber Millar performs the title role with over 30 other dancers and musicians.

“Feria de Abril” will feature members of Flamenco del Sol’s academy in a joyous spring dance celebration. The weekend will celebrate the performers with a photo and biography gallery in the lobby, examining the rich and diverse histories of members of the company.

Flamenco del Sol has captivated audiences nightly at Universal Studios CityWalk as well as Sea World, Epcot Center and various venues throughout the U.S. and the Caribbean since 1999. At the same time, their academy and professional companies have delighted audiences and critics alike with a flurry of productions including critically lauded performances at the Orlando Fringe festival and Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center

Flamenco del Sol productions include award-winning “Misa Flamenca,” as well as “El Amor Brujo,” “Camino Flamenco,” “Pasión Flamenca” and “Corazon Flamenco,” featuring international flamenco star and Artistic Partner Angel Rojas.

"Through its unique blend of innovative storytelling, lavish costuming and passion for classical Spanish dance and music, Flamenco del Sol is one of Florida’s and the southeast’s most exciting dance companies," said Dean of Arts and Communication Michele Cuomo.

Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. The shows are free with Seminole State College ID. For reservations, call 407.708.2040 or visit seminolestate.edu/arts.
