This spring, Seminole State College of Florida invites the community to experience a season filled with creativity, discovery and celebration. From inspiring theater and live music to student art exhibitions and engaging guest speakers, the College’s campuses will host a variety of events open to students, employees and the public.

Presented by the Center for Fine and Performing Arts and campus partners, these programs highlight the talent of Seminole State students and faculty while bringing the community together through arts, culture and learning.

Theatre and Performing Arts

Cabaret

The Seminole State theatre program presents the award-winning musical Cabaret in Le Petit Théâtre. Set in a Berlin nightclub as the 1920s draw to a close, the story follows American writer Cliff Bradshaw and English singer Sally Bowles as their lives unfold against the backdrop of a changing Germany.

Featuring well-known songs such as “Willkommen,” “Cabaret,” and “Don’t Tell Mama,” the production explores themes of love, identity and resilience during a turbulent moment in history.

Music Performances

Music Major Recital

Seminole State music majors will perform solo repertoire on their primary instruments during this recital presented by the Center for Fine and Performing Arts. The performance showcases the dedication and artistry of the College’s student musicians.

Jazz Night

Enjoy an evening of lively jazz at the historic Ritz Theater in downtown Sanford. Presented in partnership with The Ritz at the Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center, the concert features Seminole State’s Jazz Combo, Jazz Ambassadors and SeminoleSound performing classic and contemporary jazz selections.

Seminole State Choirs: An American Soundscape – Celebrating 250 Years

In honor of America’s 250th anniversary and Seminole State’s 60th anniversary, the College’s choirs will present a spring concert celebrating the nation’s musical heritage.

Under the direction of conductor Dianna Campbell, the performance will feature patriotic anthems, pop and rock favorites, gospel and folk music representing the diverse sounds that have shaped the American musical landscape.

Final Bow

Graduating music majors will showcase their talent during this performance highlighting solo repertoire on their primary instruments. The event offers students in their final semester an opportunity to share their work with the community.

Spring Band Concert

Join the Seminole State Symphonic/Community Band for an evening of live music featuring a variety of concert band selections performed by student and community musicians and conducted by Dr. James Smisek.

Visual Arts

56th Annual Juried Student Art Exhibit

Presented by the Center for Fine and Performing Arts, the 56th Annual Juried Student Art Exhibit showcases a selection of work created by Seminole State students over the past year.

The exhibition features a variety of mediums including painting, printmaking, drawing, mixed media, ceramics and sculpture, highlighting the creativity and artistic growth of the College’s student artists.

Special Events and Speakers

All American Firefighter Challenge and Training Camp Family Fun Day

Firefighters from across the country will gather at Seminole State’s Sanford/Lake Mary Campus for the inaugural All American Challenge and Training Camp, part of the Firefighter Challenge Championship Series. Named by ESPN as “the toughest two minutes in sports,” the competition tests the strength, endurance and technical skills required in real-life emergency response.

As part of this action-packed event, the whole family can also enjoy at the 2026 All American Challenge and Training Camp Family Fun Day on Saturday, April 4. The event kicks off with an opening ceremony at 10:30 a.m. In addition to the Live Firefighter Combat Challenge, families can enjoy touch-a-truck displays with emergency vehicles, hands-on demonstrations, food trucks and local vendors. With mascots, games and interactive experiences throughout the day, this free community event offers fun for all ages while celebrating courage, teamwork and community spirit.

Speaker Series: Dr. Randall Atlas

As part of the Seminole State Speaker Series, architect and criminologist Dr. Randall Atlas will present a discussion on Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED).

Atlas will explore how the design of buildings, landscapes and public spaces can help reduce crime and improve safety, while also examining emerging security threats and practical strategies communities can use to identify vulnerabilities and create safer environments.
