The U.S. Department of Education issued May 2020 regulations for Title IX, the law that prohibits sex discrimination in educational programs and activities receiving federal funds. In College Policy 1.060, Seminole State College of Florida strictly prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, pregnancy, national origin, ethnicity, age, sex, gender, veterans' or military status, disability, sexual orientation, genetic information, marital status or any other factor protected under applicable federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations in its programs, activities of education and employment. This statement supports obligations under Title IX and various other laws including the Violence Against Women Act and the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination (SaVE) Act.
In relation to Title IX, Seminole State College of Florida prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, including sexual harassment. This applies to all programs and activities of the College. Complaints may be filed with the Title IX coordinator or the College President (please visit the Title IX links on this webpage for more information). Title IX and its regulations prohibit such discrimination and cover students and applicants for admission as well as employees and applicants for employment.
Discrimination based on sex may include sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence or stalking. Each of those terms is defined in the Title IX regulations of May, 2020, section 106.30.
Seminole State responds promptly to complaints of discrimination, taking appropriate steps under College Procedure 1.0600. Resolving Discrimination Concerns, and/or 1.0601, Resolving Sexual Harassment Complaints Under Title IX.
How Can I Report Sexual Harassment to the College?
Contact the Title IX coordinator/equity officer for the College by email, phone, mail, or in person. Say that you have experienced (or seen, or know about) discrimination (which could include sexual harassment) and you want the College to investigate it. Note: mail and in-person reports are suspended while the College facilities are closed for part of Fall 2020. Please use email or phone.

Title IX also protects rights of pregnant or newly parenting students, and the College offers supportive programs such as academic adjustments and lactation support for nursing mothers.
