PTA Program Selection Process

If there are more candidates that meet the minimum criteria for admission, the following selection process will be used to determine the candidates for admission. Each candidate’s application packet will be scored based on the point values listed below and sorted from highest to lowest scores.

The maximum points an applicant's application packet can earn is 90 points.

Selection Process Point System

Cumulative GPA (minimum 2.50)

  • 2.50 - 2.99 = 1 point
  • 3.00 – 3.24 = 2 points
  • 3.25 – 3.49 = 5 points
  • 3.50 – 3.74 = 7 points
  • 3.75 – 4.00 = 9 points

General Education courses completed (7 courses total)

  • With a C = 1 point
  • With a B = 2 points
  • With an A = 3 points
  • AP/IB/CLEP = 3 points

(21-point maximum value for General Education courses)
*Please note that NONE of these courses are required to apply.

TEAS - scaled score and percentages (minimum 422 or 59%)

  • 59% = 2 points
  • 60-64% = 4 points
  • 65-69% = 7 points
  • 70-74% = 10 points
  • 75-79% = 15 points
  • 80-84%= 20 points
  • 85-89% = 25 points
  • 90-100% = 30 points

Physical Therapy Observation Hours

  • 2 points for each site (up to 5 different sites) – up to 10 points total
  • 2 points for each different practice setting (up to 5 settings) – up to 10 points total
  • 2 points for completion of at least 20 hours at that site – up to 10 points total
