Great Colleges 2018

The Great Colleges to Work For is a national survey that is administered across the country annually by The Chronicle of Higher Education. Colleges elect to participate to obtain important feedback from their employees. Seminole State College participated in the survey in 2013 and 2018.

The Chronicle of Higher Education recognizes institutions based on the survey results. In 2018, there were 84 recognized institutions with 42 institutions named to the honor roll. Seminole State was recognized as a “Great College to Work For” winning honors in three categories:

  1. Diversity: The institution makes a concerted effort to create a welcoming and fair environment for all its employees.
  2. Professional/Career Development Programs: Employees are given the opportunity to develop skills and understand requirements to advance in their careers.
  3. Supervisor/Department Chair Relationship: Supervisor makes expectations clear and solicits ideas.

Overall, we are encouraged by the results. We saw increases in almost every category compared to 2013. We recognize that there are areas for improvement, and look forward to working with employees on developing strategies for improvement moving forward. We encourage all employees to review the results, and look for future communications on next steps.

Thank you all for providing your feedback. Over 60% of our full-time employees participated in the survey, and our response rate was 20% higher than the national average.
