Articulation Agreement

The purpose of the Law Enforcement/Corrections Officer Articulation Agreement is to provide graduates of Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC)-certified training academies with college-level course credit, which can be applied toward an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree in Criminal Justice Technology at Seminole State College.

Student Procedures

It is the intent of this agreement to provide graduates of the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC) certified training academies (Law Enforcement, Corrections, or crossover) with college level credit that can be applied towards a Criminal Justice Technology Associate in Science Degree at Seminole State College of Florida.

Student Procedures:

I. Students who wish to apply for college credit must make their request through the Career Program Advisor or Program Manager of the Criminal Justice Technology A.S. Degree

II. Students seeking college credit must submit current Florida Law Enforcement or Corrections certification or transcript of successful completion of a CJSTC approved law enforcement or correctional officer certification program to the Program Manager or Career Program Advisor in the Center for Public Safety.

III. Students complete a Request for Articulated Credit form which can be obtained from the Public Safety office or on the college website. This form must be submitted to the Associate Dean with the above documentation.

Provisions

I. Based upon the Program Manager and Associate Dean's verification, students who have current Florida Law Enforcement or Corrections Officer certification or a transcript of successful completion of a CJSTC approved law enforcement or correctional officer certification program will be awarded up to a maximum of 22 college credits as follows:

Graduates of the Corrections Officer Academy shall receive 16 college-credit hours toward an A.S. degree in Criminal Justice Technology for the following courses (as listed in the statewide course numbering system):

II. For credit to be posted to the student's transcripts, the student must complete or have completed (16) hours of college level course work at Seminole State College of Florida.

III. There will be no charge assessed to the student for issuance of these credits.

IV. Articulated credit might not be recognized or accepted by other institutions.

V. Per college graduation requirements, students must complete at least 25 percent of the total degree requirements at Seminole State College of Florida.

VI. The above approved components are based on the 2013-2014 Seminole State College Catalog and are subject to change by DOE and legislative action, or by Seminole State without notice.

VII. This agreement takes effect Fall 2013 and replaces any previous agreements. Students who have received credit under previous agreements for this same area are not entitled to any rights or privileges granted under this agreement. Students must satisfy Seminole State College graduation requirements.

VIII. The agreement is to be reviewed annually and is subject to change if changes are made to the Florida Law Enforcement or Correctional Officer Certification, CJSTC law enforcement or correctional officer curriculum or to the Criminal Justice Technology A.S. Degree program at Seminole State College of Florida. This agreement shall be in effect until mutually canceled or either party withdraws.
