Alumni Legacy Awards
The legacy left behind by Seminole State College of Florida alumni is recognized by many as extraordinary. Many alumni have gone on to be leaders in the community, making a difference in a great number of lives. It is because of these unique individuals that Seminole State is known as a trailblazer among notable Florida state colleges. The true measure of a college is found in the achievements of its alumni, which led the Alumni Association to create the Alumni Legacy Awards. At this event, the Distinguished Alumni, Outstanding Graduate, Alumni Excellence Honors, and Honors Alumni Award are presented.

- Nominations are accepted year round and will be considered in the selection process for awards dependent on the event date each year. Award nominations for 2024 Legacy Awards will close in early August 2024.

In addition to completing and submitting the Award Nomination Form, nominators are encouraged to provide supporting items that further distinguish the nominee. Please upload documents to the Nomination form or email PDF documents to alumni@seminolestate.edu.
Examples include:
- Current biography for the nominee
- Newspaper and/or magazine articles
- Personal stories
- Awards or certificates of achievement, etc.
Award Information
The Distinguished Alumni Award was established in 1998, and it is our pleasure to continue this notable tradition. This award recognizes the College’s alumni who have made substantial contributions to society, and whose accomplishments, affiliations and careers have honored the legacy of excellence at the College.
The Outstanding Graduate Award recognizes a new Seminole State alumnus who has shown promise during their career as a student through academics, volunteering and affiliations and plans to continue striving toward a bright future. There will be one recipient per academic year (Summer, Fall, or Spring).
This honor is presented to individuals who exemplify Seminole State’s core values of integrity, respect, excellence, academic freedom, and learning. These individuals should be making progress or achieving success in impacting the community, succeeding in their career, or contributing to the advancement of Seminole State.
The Grindle Honors Institute provides enriched learning opportunities to help students cultivate their academic curiosity, creativity and willingness to embrace challenge, uncertainty and diversity as engaged members of society. The Honors Alumni Award recognizes an Honors Institute graduate whose professional successes, contributions to society, and/or contributions to Seminole State College embody the mission of the Grindle Honors Institute.
