The Center for Public Safety at Seminole State College has a praiseworthy history of excellence in training and placing students with community partners in fire science, criminal justice, and emergency medical services throughout Central Florida. With state-of-the-art classrooms, training spaces, a driving track and gun range, and advanced and specialized certificate and degree programs, the College provides the knowledge, skills and expertise needed for a successful career in public safety.

Led by an experienced team of faculty and staff, Seminole State’s Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Academy programs create a positive higher education experience while equipping students with the real-life skills necessary to pass licensure exams and enter their chosen field.  

Meet the Team

In charge of the Law Enforcement Academy and advanced police training are two professionals with valuable real-world experience, a long history in law enforcement, and a passion for shaping the next generation of officers in our communities. These leaders share their journeys from student to officer to faculty and mentors with Seminole State’s Criminal Justice Training Center.

Points of Pride

  • Criminal justice programs have a 96% average placement rate overall.
  • Since 2022, the graduates of the Basic Law Enforcement Academy have a 100% pass rate on the State Officer Certification Examination.
  • The Basic Law Enforcement Academy placement rate is 95% overall.
  • The Associate in Science (A.S.) in Criminal Justice Technology has a 97% placement rate overall.
  • The program has received a 100% perfect score on the full Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Audit for the past eight years.

Seminole State's Center for Public Safety is a statewide educational resource for all aspects of criminal justice, fire science and EMS. In addition to preparing future first responders, the Center for Public Safety provides advanced, specialized and in-service training for current law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs and paramedics.
