This year’s Dream Cup Challenge golf tournament players braved the summer heat and worked to stay safe with social distancing measures for the 37th annual tournament on June 1. Thirty-one teams participated and showed their support for programs, scholarships and other areas of need at the College, raising over $44,000.

“I’m so grateful that our community and business leaders, as well as our donors, were able to attend and show their support during these unprecedented times,” said Dr. John Gyllin, vice president of Resource and Economic Development and executive director of the Foundation for Seminole State College.“ Today showed how much impact our community has on our Seminole State students and programs. It is heartwarming to know the level of care that they have for our mission.”

Presented by Addition Financial, the 18-hole competition featured special putting and course contents with consideration for social distancing guidelines, including “Longest Drive,” “Best Poker Hand,” a “Putting Contest” sponsored by Trademark Press and a “Hole-in-one” chance for a two-year lease from Parks Lincoln of Longwood. Players enjoyed a pre-game lunch provided by Jax 5th Avenue Deli and Ale House, drinks by Wayne Densch Charities Inc. and a catered to-go dinner following play.

Prizes were awarded to the first place winners in three flights:

  • Flight One: Team Publix
  • Flight Two: Parks Motor Group/Central Florida Auto Dealers Association
  • Flight Three: Burr & Forman

The Dream Cup Challenge is one of Seminole County’s premier golf events and serves as one of the Foundation’s largest fundraisers of the year.
