Special Olympian is the new voice of Seminole State softball

You may hear a new voice on the Seminole State College softball field this season. In a partnership with the Special Olympics of Florida, the Raiders Athletic Department has recruited Special Olympian Scott Lienard to call the games from the top of the stands. 

Lienard was more than happy to take on the role, as one of his goals was to announce for a college team. With his degree from the Connecticut School of Broadcasting, and numerous announcing gigs under his belt, including Oviedo High School’s JV and Varsity Softball games, Lienard has the talent. 

Athletics Director, Kurt Esser heard Lienard as the announcer at the Annual Special Olympics Golf Fundraiser where the Raider’s Women’s Golf team volunteers and knew that adding Lienard as the announcer at his softball game would be a great improvement to the overall atmosphere. “Seminole State is about changing lives, and adding Scott as the PA for our games changes the lives of our Student-Athletes and fans by allowing his passion for the game to shine through his announcing." said Esser.  "That unique ability he has makes him a perfect fit for this position.”

“I’m so grateful that Seminole State gave me the opportunity to be the announcer for the women’s softball team. It’s a dream come true," said Lienard. 

He also hosts a weekly Sports Show on his YouTube channel, Scott's Week in Sports, and serves on the Seminole County Athlete Input Council.
