Established in his memory, the Kevin P. Olsen Memorial Scholarship provides financial assistance to full-time students who maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 while studying to become a firefighter.

From an early age, Kevin Olsen always knew what he was going to be when he grew up.  With two uncles and five cousins that served as firefighters in Massachusetts, Kevin look forward to following in his family's footsteps as a firefighter and emergency first responder.

He and his family chose the Fire Academy at Seminole State College for its reputation and outstanding leadership. It was a choice many of his firefighter friends applauded. He went on to become a volunteer firefighter with the Sanford Fire Department.

When Kevin passed away in 2009, his family, friends and colleagues joined together to honor the life of this remarkable young man who possessed such a generous spirit and desire to help others through a career in firefighting by creating the Kevin P. Olsen Memorial Scholarship.
