Retiree Benefit Process & Program (Procedure 2.4600)

Seminole State College appreciates our retirees and their contributions to the College. The Retiree Benefit Program is provided in recognition of our retirees' service, and to keep retirees connected to the College after their employment ends.

This procedure outlines the benefits and services available to qualified retirees through the Retiree Benefit Program.

Purpose 

To define Seminole State College Retiree eligibility and outline associated benefits and programs.

To be considered a Seminole State College retiree, immediately prior to retirement, an employee must:

  1. Have completed ten (10) years of continuous full-time employment at Seminole State College; and
  2. Meet normal retirement eligibility requirements under a qualified mandatory retirement plan such as the Florida Retirement System (FRS), or State and Community College System Optional Retirement Program (SCCSCORP); and
  3. Apply for distribution from a qualified mandatory retirement plan such as the Florida Retirement System (FRS}, or State and Community College System Optional Retirement Program (SCCSORP).

All these conditions must be present at time of separation.

Procedure for Retiring from Seminole State College

Employees wanting to retire shall notify your supervisor and the Human Resources Benefits Team of your intent to retire within 3-6 months of expected retirement date so the Benefits Team can initiate the retirement eligibility review. Once completed, the benefits team will contact you to share your eligibility status and review next steps.

Retiree Benefits Program

The following benefits are available to retirees:

  1. Health & Life Insurance
    1. Retirees and qualified dependents are eligible for medical, and life insurance coverage via the State Group Insurance Program. If elected, monthly premium expenses are paid in full by the retiree. Failure to make premium payments by prescribed deadlines will result in cancellation of coverage.
  2. Library Privileges
  3. Raider Health & Wellness Center
  4. Complimentary Theater Admission
  5. Tuition Waivers
  6. Tuition Reimbursement
  7. Retiree Recognition
