Purpose
The purpose of this procedure is to designate a process by which assessment can be developed and supported at the College. The Seminole State Assessment Committee (SSAC) will assist both academic and administrative units in performing assessment of Seminole State College’s post-secondary programs to improve student learning, student support services, and College operations. One primary function of the committee is to annually review assessment plans and results from the College’s academic programs and administrative units. Faculty and staff participation on the committee is essential to the implementation and review of the College’s program assessment.
Procedure
Committee Responsibilities
- The Seminole State Assessment Committee (SSAC) will meet quarterly throughout the academic year or as needed to review and develop assessment(s) for academic and administrative units.
- The Manager, Institutional Effectiveness and Research will convene the initial meeting where committee members will elect a Chair. The Manager, Institutional Effectiveness and Research will serve as Co-Chair.
- If a quorum is present, discussion and debate on proposals will take place. A quorum is defined as one more than half of the voting members currently appointed to the committee.
- The Chair and co-chair of the SSAC shall establish a meeting schedule and committee assignments facilitating an efficient, comprehensive process to review, develop, and communicate assessment procedures to the College.
- Proposals may be approved, not approved, approved with changes, tabled, or taken off the table from previous meetings.
- The SSAC will establish assessment timelines for programs to follow, such as data collection, analysis, and reporting deadlines.
- Committee Membership
- Membership on the committee shall consist of the following. In each instance the term “Faculty member” refers to Full-time faculty:
- Manager, Institutional Effectiveness and Research.
- Three Faculty Members from the School of Arts and Sciences.
- Three Faculty Members from the School of Business, Health, and Public Safety.
- Membership on the committee shall consist of the following. In each instance the term “Faculty member” refers to Full-time faculty:
- Three Faculty Members from the School of Construction, Design, Engineering, and IT.
- One Dean from the School of Arts & Sciences.
- One Dean from the School of Business, Health & Public Safety.
- One Dean from the School of Construction, Design, Engineering, and Information Technologies.
- One Associate Vice President, Academic Affairs.
- One Director from Student Affairs.
- One Associate Vice President, Student Affairs.
- Director, Institutional Effectiveness and Research.
- One Librarian.
- One representative from eLearning.
- Associate Vice President, Organizational Culture & Strategy/Title IX as member by position.
- Except where membership is defined by position title, members shall serve three-year terms.
- The committee reports recommendations of the Committee for improvement and change to the President.
