Seminole State College of Florida renamed the softball field to Courtney Miller Field to honor former Head Softball Coach Courtney Miller on Saturday, Jan. 24. She served as head coach from 1994 - 2024 with 19 FCSAA State Tournament appearances and she was inducted into the Florida College System Activities Association Softball Hall of Fame in May 2024. Members from across the community and Miller's former players came together to celebrate her career.
"I am deeply honored and truly humbled to have this field dedicated in my name. This place represents the best part of my life—a journey filled with unforgettable memories, meaningful moments and lifelong lessons. I hope it serves as a source of inspiration for young women and student-athletes to believe in themselves, embrace their journey, and pursue their goals with confidence and heart,” said Miller.
The event included a ceremonial ribbon cutting including College and community leaders and a ceremonial first pitch on the field to begin the game when Seminole State College took on Lake Sumter State College in a double header.
