Seminole State College of Florida’s Christa Teno, a trailblazer in women’s collegiate golf and longtime head coach of the Raider women’s golf team, has been inducted into the 2025 Seminole County Sports Hall of Fame. Teno was honored as the Female Contributor inductee during the county’s annual Night of Champions ceremony held May 12 at Hagerty High School in Oviedo.

A native of Tecumseh, Ontario, Teno has led the Seminole State College women’s golf program since 2007, transforming it into a national powerhouse. Under her leadership, the Raiders have captured five NJCAA National Championships (2015, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023) and earned six national runner-up finishes (2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2024, 2025).

Beyond her team’s impressive performance, Teno’s individual accolades are equally notable. She was named the 2018 LPGA National Coach of the Year and has been recognized three times as the LPGA Southeast Region Coach of the Year. Teno was also inducted into the NJCAA Women’s Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2017 and was honored by the Windsor/Essex County Sports Hall of Fame in 2010.

Before coaching, Teno played collegiate golf at the University of North Texas (formerly North Texas State) and competed professionally on the Futures and LPGA Tours. She became a member of the LPGA Teaching Division in 1997, bringing that elite-level experience to her coaching philosophy.

“I wake up excited every day to spend time with my team and being recognized by Seminole County for doing what I love is truly humbling,” Teno shared in another interview.

Underscoring the success of Raider Athletics, Teno has joined former softball Head Coach Courtney Miller in the hall of fame. Miller, who served as head coach for nearly 30 years and led the Raiders to over 1,200 wins during her career, was a 2023 inductee.

Teno also joins an impressive class of 2025 inductees, including athlete Fayetta Robinson, professional soccer player Graham Zusi, contributors Mick Andrews and Scott Lienard, and Legacy Awardees Wayne Albert and Mike Bono.

Her induction into the Seminole County Sports Hall of Fame celebrates not only her coaching success but also her deep and lasting impact on student-athletes, the community and the sport of golf itself.
