The Foundation for Seminole State College and the Oviedo-Winter Springs Regional Chamber of Commerce (OWSRCC) have partnered to offer three new scholarships for local high school students pursuing higher education in visual arts and design. The scholarships are named in honor of Winter Springs ARToberFEST, which was held Oct. 20-21 at Winter Springs Town Center.

For the first time, the Foundation for Seminole State will award scholarships to deserving students who choose to pursue higher education in visual arts and design at Hagerty High School, Oviedo High School and Winter Springs High School. Seminole State will award $500 scholarships to one graduating senior at each high school who will enroll at the College.

The OWSRCC has also partnered with the UCF School of Visual Arts and Design, which will award three $500 scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend UCF, for a total of six scholarships being granted.

“The Winter Springs ARToberFEST committee is dedicated to hosting the premier art event in our community and to encouraging up-and-coming artists to pursue their passion for art. We appreciate the support of UCF and Seminole State College in honoring this annual event,” said Bridget Lake, president and CEO of the OWSRCC.

Scholarship applications are available at wsfota.org, and applications must be submitted by March 15, 2019. The recipients will be selected by a committee based on their artwork as well as additional criteria.
