Special Regalia

Special regalia, tassels and hoods provided by Phi Theta Kappa, Phi Beta Lambda and/or the Grindle Honors Institute may also be worn. Questions regarding special regalia should be directed to the departments/organizations offering these special awards.

Honors Cords

Honors graduates are recognized with an honor cord and designation in the graduation program. Grades for the graduating term are not available prior to printing the graduation program and reader cards. Therefore, honors designations for the ceremony are based on graduates’ cumulative GPA earned in the previous term. Final cumulative GPA and honors designations for diplomas/official transcripts will be updated as appropriate after final grades are processed at the end of the term.

Honors Designations

  • Cum Laude: 3.2 - 3.49 GPA
  • Magna Cum Laude: 3.5 - 3.79 GPA
  • Summa Cum Laude: 3.8 - 4.0 GPA

Questions regarding honors eligibility should be directed to the Enrollment Services/Registrar’s Office prior to commencement.
