Give to the Thomas Tipton Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Thomas Tipton, a professor of economics at Seminole State College, then known as Seminole Community College, was one of the founding faculty members at the College. By 1998, Mr. Tipton reduced his teaching to part-time as he looked forward to retirement. In February 1998, Mr. Tipton was tragically killed when a violent series of tornadoes struck the Central Florida area. Friends and colleagues established an endowed scholarship in honor of his many years of service to the College and his love of economics.
Established in honor of his service as one of the College’s founding professors, the Thomas Tipton Memorial Endowed Scholarship fund provides assistance to students studying economics. Students who possess a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and who have passed either Principles of Macroeconomics or Microeconomics (ECO 2013, 2013H, or 2023) and received a grade of B or higher are eligible for the scholarship. A letter of recommendation from the professor who taught their class is required.
