Give to the Jack Glatting Memorial Endowed Scholarship
In 1975, Jack Glatting established a small land planning company in Orlando. Over the next 25 years, his firm became one of Florida's largest, known for many high-profile development projects including Lake Nona in Orange County, Viera in Brevard County and Alaqua Lakes in Seminole County. Under his leadership, his firm designed the West Orange Trail and helped with the expansion of the Orange County Convention Center.
Hailed by partners, friends and family as a creative planner whose passion focused on mixed-use developments, Jack’s firm was known for its employee-friendly work environment where employees enjoyed annual pumpkin carving contests, dart tournaments and beach weekends.
"We're in the community design industry; the firm was home for a lot of creative people," said Glatting partner Bill Kercher. "Jack was among the most creative. He wanted to create successful communities and places for people to live and learn, work and play."
Through his professional and civic planning efforts, Mr. Glatting forever shaped the landscape of our community, providing a lasting foundation and model for future growth. He took great satisfaction in the mentoring of many younger community planners and designers.
Upon his passing in 2002, the community honored Mr. Glatting through the establishment of the Jack Glatting Memorial Endowed Scholarship. Students interested in architectural design or construction, possess a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, and have financial needs are eligible to apply.
