Admissions Requirements for Apprenticeship Programs
Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Program (Pending State Approval)
Applicants must be enrolled in or eligible to enroll in the Information Systems Technology B.S. Those seeking admission to Seminole State College’s bachelor’s degree programs must comply with the College’s General Admissions Procedures. In addition, students must meet the following program-specific requirements listed below prior to being accepted into upper-division coursework:
- Completion of an Associate degree or a minimum of 60 credit hours from a regionally accredited institution.
- A GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Demonstrate conceptual knowledge of networking technologies (e.g., routing and switching, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP).
- Have conceptual familiarity with SD-WAN and cloud-based network access control solutions.
- Successfully pass required background checks, including CJIS screening.
- Hold a valid driver's licence and have reliable transportation.
- Program progression requirements: Once admitted, students must achieve (or have achieved) a grade of "C" or higher in the following courses
- Programming and Cybersecurity Specialization:
- CET 1179 Network Concepts and Operating Systems
- CET 1600C Cisco Networking Fundamentals (Net+)
- CGS 2545C Database Management
- COP 1000 Principles of Computer Programming
- ECO 2023 Principles of Economics (MACRO) or ECO 2013 Principles of Economics (MICRO)
- MAC 1105 College Algebra, or higher
- STA 2023 Statistical Methods or MAC 1114 Trigonometry, or higher-level mathematics course
Florida Automatic Sprinkler Training (FAST) program
Candidates must:
- Apply and be accepted at Seminole State College.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be physically capable of performing the work of the trade.
- Be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Provide proof of Florida residency for waiver status.
- Be employed by a sponsoring company.
Teacher Apprenticeship Program (TAP), Exceptional Student Education (K-12) Bachelor of Science
Applicants must be enrolled or eligible to enroll in the Exceptional Student Education B.S. Those seeking admission to Seminole State College's bachelor's degree programs must comply with the College's General Admissions procedures. In addition, students must meet the following program-specific requirements listed below prior to being accepted into upper-division coursework:
- Completion of an Associate of Arts degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- An Associate of Science degree does not meet admission criteria. Students who have earned a minimum of 60 college credit hours from any regionally accredited institution may request to have their admission reviewed and determined by the faculty committee. This includes students who have earned an Associate of Science degree.
- A GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Be selected by a participating employer, in accordance with Rule 6A-5.067, F.A.C.
- Complete EDF 2005 Introduction to Teaching and EDF 2130 Children and Adolescent Development for Educators with a grade of “C” or higher once admitted.
For Seminole County Public Schools TAP apprentices, EDF 2005 and EDF 2130 may be considered satisfied if the apprentice works as a paraprofessional in a K-12 public school setting. - Successfully complete required background screening and fingerprinting.
- Hold a five-year nonrenewable Temporary Teacher Apprenticeship Certificate issued by the Florida Department of Education.
