LEO0463 CMS Defensive Tactics Instructor

This is an advanced/specialized training course for law enforcement or corrections officers. The 80-hour Law Enforcement Defensive Tactics Instructor course was organized and developed to enhance the knowledge, skills and abilities of an individual to better prepare prospective officers to control subjects and defend themselves using appropriate defensive tactics in accordance with the Recommended Response to Resistance Matrix. It is based on the premise that the primary objective of the law enforcement basic recruit defensive tactics training instructor is to alert students to the responsibilities of safe and efficient response to resistance. This course is part of the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission's approved Specialized Training Program. It is designed to accommodate a maximum of 20 students per class to ensure that each student has the appropriate amount of time to complete the teaching exercise and practical scenarios.

It is based on the premise that the primary objective of the law enforcement basic recruit Defensive Tactics training instructor is to alert students to their responsibilities for safe and efficient response to resistance. The Defensive Tactics Instructor class is a physically intense course of instruction. Student enrollment should be governed accordingly. This course is part of the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission approved Specialized Training Program. Students must successfully demonstrate all physical techniques and achieve a minimum score of 85% on the end-of-course written exam. Maximum enrollment is 20 students per class. This size limitation is to ensure that each student has the appropriate amount of time to complete the teaching exercise and practical scenarios. Students should wear appropriate physical training attire and bring plenty of water for hydration. Equipment: fingerless gloves (optional), mouth- piece, no boots.
