Dianna Campbell

Dianna Campbell has served as Seminole State College’s Director of Choral Activities and Professor of Music since 2004 and was promoted to the rank of Distinguished Professor in 2023. She is a recipient of the Community Partners Endowed Teaching Chair (2021), the Janet Balanoff Catalyst Award for Excellence in Equity and Diversity (2022), the Ken Sylvester Faculty Excellence Award (two-time honoree), and three NISOD Excellence in Teaching Awards. Most recently, she was inducted into the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) Music Hall of Fame.
Professor Campbell also serves as the College’s Music Program Coordinator, overseeing the Music Pathway curriculum for music majors. She is an active member of the College Curriculum Committee and has served multiple terms as Chairperson. Her campus leadership includes participation in Leadership Academy and Advanced Leadership Academy, as well as advising roles with the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the String Club, Chamber Orchestra, and Gospel Choir.
A respected leader in her field, Campbell has held State, Regional, and National Repertoire & Standards Chair positions for Two-Year College Choirs in the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), organizing and conducting interest sessions, reading sessions, and honor choirs at conferences across the country. She has served as FCSAA State Music Representative, Orchestra Coordinator for the State Symposium, District Chair for the Florida Vocal Association (FVA), and on numerous committees statewide.
Dianna is active as a clinician, panelist, adjudicator, and conductor. She regularly adjudicates for Heritage/Worldstrides and Music in the Parks, and has previously adjudicated for Dynamic Music Festivals, OrlandoFest, and the Grady-Rayem Negro Spiritual Scholarship Contest. Known for her high-energy conducting style, she has led numerous All-County Choirs and has served as a headlining clinician for the Association of Disciples Musicians. She is an FVA judge and a certified Master Teacher.
In 2018, Distinguished Professor Campbell conducted Vivaldi’s Gloria at Carnegie Hall for the National Two-Year College Festival Choir. In 2023, she led the Seminole State Choir in the Vienna Advent Sings Festival, conducting at Vienna City Hall and the historic 300-year-old Melk Abbey. Before joining Seminole State College, Campbell served as Choir Director at Lyman High School (1989–2004) and Director of Music at Central Christian Church in Orlando (1992–2001). She holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Florida (magna cum laude) and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of South Florida (highest honors). She is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
Mrs. Campbell is married to her high-school sweetheart, Scott, and they have one son, Austin. She resides in Sorrento, FL with her many four-legged fur-babies and is an active member of Reach Church, Sorrento.
