Approved AI Tools for College-Related Work

Not all AI tools offer the same level of privacy and security.
Seminole State has approved the following AI tools for any work involving college data.
Even when using approved AI tools, be thoughtful about the information you share. If you're unsure whether something should be entered into an AI tool, check the College privacy guidelines or contact the CTS Help Desk.

Microsoft 365 Copilot, the College's approved AI Assistant, meets the College's privacy and security requirements and is licensed for institutional use. Students, faculty and staff have access to Copilot by using their Seminole State College network account.

Before entering College-related content, look for the protected-work icon. This symbol means you're using the protected version of Copilot designed for college and workplace use.

Zoom AI Companion uses generative AI to streamline meeting preparation, note-taking and content creation. When used through your Seminole State account, meeting content and communications remain protected and are not used to train Zoom or third-party AI models.

Adobe Firefly is an AI-powered creative tool within Adobe Creative Cloud that helps users generate and edit images and other visual content using text prompts. Trained on licensed and public domain content, Firefly supports the responsible creation of professional-quality digital content.

AI in the Classroom
Learning how to use AI effectively is important. Learning when not to use it is equally important.
That's why Seminole State faculty have the flexibility to determine how AI fits within their courses. In some classes, AI may be encouraged as a tool for research or brainstorming. In others, it may be limited or prohibited to ensure students develop specific skills independently.
Students are responsible for understanding and following their instructor's AI guidelines. Always review your syllabus and assignment instructions carefully, and when in doubt, ask before you submit your work. For additional guidance, review the College's Acceptable Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies policy.

Keeping Student Data Secure
Protecting student privacy is non-negiotable.
Seminole State does not share student records, grades or other protected information with public AI tools. When AI is used to support internal operations, personal identifiers are removed and data is handled using established privacy and security safeguards.
We won't share your private data with external AI platforms.
We may use anonymized data to help identify opportunities for improvement, strengthen system security and enhance the services students rely on every day, all without exposing personal information.
