This is the fourth year Addition Financial hosted this inspirational contest, awarding one public school teacher from Orange, Seminole, Lake and Osceola counties with a classroom makeover. Addition Financial hired paid interns from the Seminole State College of Florida interior design program to take each teacher’s vision and make it into a reality.

All teachers from our neighboring counties were surprised to win and amazed with the way their classrooms were styled by Seminole State students. Markham Woods Middle School teacher Carol Ramsey told The Sanford Herald, “It feels very welcoming, the colors are perfect, I love the chairs, the softness of the furniture, and it’s just beautiful.”

Seminole State has many partnerships with various organizations spread across the counties but partnering with Addition Financial for the annual classroom makeover truly marks a deep sentiment of investing in the community’s tomorrow. The well-equipped and furnished classrooms the interior design interns created brought the teachers much motivation for this new school year. Interior Design Program Manager and Professor Holly Rodwick said, “The interior design students at Seminole State College were ecstatic about the opportunity to partner with Addition Financial to help our local teachers and give back to their community. The teachers expressed their ideas for a dream classroom, and the students worked diligently to bring their ideas to life. Not only were the design students able to get real-life experiences that helped prepare them for their future careers, but they also got to see how happy the teachers and students were with the final designs.”

Along with Markham Woods Middle School from Seminole County Public Schools, the other winning schools were Neptune Middle School, Umatilla High School and Academic Center for Excellence.
