This is an advanced/specialized training course for law enforcement or corrections officers. The Firearms Instructor Transition course was organized and developed to transition current Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission-certified firearms instructors into the new Curriculum Maintenance System (CMS) model. Structure of course: 4 lessons. Competency areas include application of law, facilitation, firearms operation, and instruction planning. Each instructor will receive a certificate of completion to satisfy state requirements. This class will be eligible for mandatory retraining, but it is not eligible for salary and incentive credit. The course meets CJSTC requirements for all FDLE certified instructors to maintain their Firearms Instructor certification status.
