Welcome from Dean Michele Cuomo
On behalf of the Seminole State College of Florida Department of Theatre, welcome to Le Petit Theatre on our Sanford/Lake Mary Campus for Ken Ludwig's Leading Ladies.
We are delighted that you have joined us for this lively and entertaining farce filled with mistaken identities, quick wit, colorful characters, and plenty of laughter. Ken Ludwig is renowned for crafting comedies that celebrate the joy of live theatre, and Leading Ladies is no exception. This production showcases the creativity, talent, and dedication of students, staff and faculty who have worked tirelessly to bring this story to life on stage.
At Seminole State, the theatre experience extends far beyond performance. Through every rehearsal, design meeting, costume fitting, and technical challenge, our students gain valuable hands-on experience that prepares them for future artistic and professional endeavors. Productions such as Leading Ladies provide opportunities for collaboration, problem-solving, creativity, and personal growth, all while enriching our campus and community.
We hope you enjoy this delightful farce and the hard work of everyone involved in its creation. Thank you for supporting the arts and for being part of our theatre community. Your presence helps make live theatre possible and inspires the next generation of artists and storytellers.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

Directors Notes
Welcome to Leading Ladies! We are so happy you're here!
I cannot tell you how much fun we have had putting this show together! There have been countless laughs throughout rehearsals, and watching these students bring these characters to life has been such a joy.
For all its craziness, Leading Ladies has a lot of heart. These characters want love, a better life, and a chance to be seen. They certainly make some interesting choices to get there, but wanting more for ourselves is something we call all relate to. And we can always use a good laugh! This is a farce, so please laugh along, enjoy the ridiculousness, and have fun with us!
Thank you to our cast, crew, designers, and box office team for all the hard work and care you have put into this production. I am so grateful for each of you.
And thank you to our audience for continuing to show up and support our students and our theatre program. It means so much. We hope you have as much fun watching as we have had creating it!
Enjoy the show!

Harriett Lake - Seminole State College Theatre's Benefactor
Harriett Lake’s philanthropic influence is evident throughout Central Florida. Not only was she a cheerleader for the arts, but a funder as well. Because of her support, Seminole State’s theatre program will continue to reap the benefits of her generosity for years to come.
Seminole State acknowledges with gratitude the $500,000 gift from Harriett Lake in 2015 that is now an endowed fund, honoring her legacy as reflected in the daily arts activity of the many students and patrons who attend theatre productions at the Seminole State College of Florida.
Harriett Lake grew up in a small town in western Pennsylvania, served in the Marines during the Second World War, and moved to Florida after the war. When she met her husband HY there, they moved to Central Florida, where Hy was a developer. They made much of their money together developing land in Central Florida. The couple jointly donated vast sums to local Jewish temples and other nonprofit organizations. HY passed away in 2010, but by then Harriett was a reigning philanthropist. There are more than 25 sites in Central Florida that bear Harriett’s name. She passed away in 2018.
“I am the keeper of the arts alive, because somebody has to do it, and I now think of myself as an occupation.” – Harriett Lake
