Lunch and Learn: Under the Dome - An Immersive Journey into Freedom and Independence

Optional "Bring your own lunch" - Join your colleagues by bringing your own lunch at 12 p.m. to enjoy in B-135 (25 minutes). No food is allowed in the dome.

Using the breathtaking immersive technology of the planetarium, you'll be virtually transported to the Pennsylvania State House, the very location where America's Founding Fathers debated, drafted, and signed the Declaration of Independence.*

Forge a Nation: Can You Shape the Constitution?
Ever wondered what it would have been like to sit in the room where the Constitution was created? Step into Philadelphia in 1787 and join your fellow faculty members in a six-week historical role-playing adventure where the future of the United States hangs in the balance.
No acting experience or extensive historical background is required. Just bring your curiosity, creativity, and competitive spirit. Part history, part strategy game, and all fun, this is a unique opportunity to experience one of the most important moments in American history while connecting with colleagues from across the college.

Tour Independence Hall
June 5, 2026
Experience Under the Dome: An Immersive Journey into Freedom and Independence and tour Philadelphia's Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was signed, at the Emil Buehler Planetarium on the Sanford/Lake Mary campus.
Liberty Tree Dedication
April 22, 2026
To commemorate the legacy of the American Revolution, a Gateway Elm was planted and dedicated as an honorary "Liberty Tree" on the Robert and Jane Lee Campus at Oviedo.
Summer Storytime
Seminole State Library Storytime featuring patriotic books and crafts, as well as professor of legal studies, Jordan Camenker, as Abraham Lincoln.
America 250 Welding and Fabrication Challenge
Students in the Seminole State Welding Program created The Torchmarker, a metal sculpture depicting a welder forging Lady Liberty's iconic torch.
Seminole State Choirs: An American Soundscape - Celebrating 250 Years
Thursday, April 9, 7:30 p.m.
In honor of America’s 250th anniversary and Seminole State’s 60th anniversary, the College’s choirs presented a spring concert celebrating the nation’s musical heritage. Under the direction of conductor Dianna Campbell, the performance featured patriotic anthems, pop and rock favorites, gospel and folk music representing the diverse sounds that have shaped the American musical landscape. The concert was held at The Ritz at Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center, 201 Magnolia Avenue, in Sanford, Florida.
