Stephen Caldwell Wright Student Poetry Contest

Underwritten by poet Gwendolyn Brooks, this annual poetry competition is in honor of Dr. Stephen Caldwell Wright, a longtime Seminole State English instructor. The competition is open to Seminole State students who are enrolled in at least one class at the College. Each person can submit up to two poems, with no entry being longer than 30 lines. All winners will be published in the Chronicle.

Essay Competition

The English Department’s annual essay competition is open to all current Seminole State students. Judges consider response to prompt, creativity and originality, use of language, development of ideas, and overall effect.
