Communication Opportunities
Seminole State's Communications Office uses several media vehicles to distribute news and information to students, faculty, staff and community members. These media include:
- The Newsroom: A hub for Seminole State news articles, announcements and event listings
- MySeminoleState: The College's online information portal for students, faculty and staff
- Social Media Sites: Includes Seminole State's official Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr pages.
- Electronic and traditional marquees
- Campus TVs
If appropriate, your news or event may also be submitted to local media outlets for external publicity.
Additional Campus/College Communication Tools
- ListServ: An electronic discussion board for Seminole State employees. All employees with a valid user ID and password can participate. Employees use their network ID and password to log in.
- Campus Bulletin Boards: Available on all Seminole State campuses, so students, faculty and staff can post event and program notifications
- Direct Mail: Request design services via the TIM System, and obtain interoffice mailing labels from the Institutional Research Department.
- The Scribe: Seminole State's student-produced newspaper
Communications Staff
Seminole State's Communications staff is responsible for developing and distributing all written, electronic, and broadcast media and public relations materials, including:
- Media releases
- Public service announcements
- Website and Newsroom content
- Media guides
- Collateral materials
- Social media activities
Additional responsibilities include:
- Ensuring positive, ongoing media relationships
- Scheduling media interviews and visits
- Executing a rapid response during emergencies through the dessemination of communications
- Assuring that the College's brand is protected
- Developing graphic design and layout for the College's website
- Arranging publicity for events and programs
- Acting as College representatives
- Writing scripts and assisting with filming for video segments
- Maintaining the Seminole State Speakers Bureau
- Writing, designing and scheduling messages on the marquees at the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus and collegewide on campus TVs
- Photographing events and programs
- Conducting focus groups
- Building and maintaining beneficial relationships with community organizations

- Notify a College spokesperson of breaking news on campus
- Update website copy
- Schedule an event on the collegewide events calendar, marquee or TV screens
- Schedule a speaker or become a member of Seminole State's Speakers Bureau
