Degrees and Certificates

Which Degree Is Right for You?

Seminole State College students can choose from several options for their academic future.

Associate in Arts (A.A.) Degree

The Associate in Arts program is a two-year course of study that covers the core materials needed to complete the first two years of a four-year bachelor's degree. The A.A. program for each area parallels the State University System's curriculum. The credits students earn at Seminole State can be transferred to a four-year college or university of their choice. An A.A. degree is the credential earned when a student has successfully completed a two-year course of study.

After earning an A.A. degree, students are guaranteed
acceptance to one of Florida's 12 state universities.*

Benefits of earning an A.A. Degree at Seminole State:

  • Reasonable tuition: The A.A. degree program costs less than attending your first  two years in a four-year college or university.
  • Smaller classes: Our faculty's main focus is on teaching you. Because of our smaller class size, professors can assist students one-on-one when needed.
  • Prepared as juniors: Seminole State students who transfer to a four-year college or university usually perform as well or better academically than third-year university students.

Associate of Science (A.S.) Degree

An A.S. degree program generally takes about two years to complete. A.S. degree programs provide students with the required knowledge to perform and excel in a particular profession. Some of the credits earned in an A.S. degree program also can be transferred to a four-year college or university.

Earning an A.S. degree at Seminole State is ideal if:

  • You wish to begin working in your chosen field immediately after graduation.
  • You are considering continuing your education in the future.

Certificate Program

Some of the most rewarding jobs in Central Florida — or the Southeast for that matter — can be attained upon completing a comprehensive certificate training program. These programs blend classroom instruction and practical real-world training, often in the actual work environment.

Some certificate career options include:

Getting Started

* Some university programs within a given major restrict student access. To gain admittance into a limited-access program, students must apply for admission into that program. This is separate from the initial university admission process.
