College Goal Saturday offering free FAFSA help

College Goal SaturdayExperts from Seminole State College of Florida will be available on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., to offer free assistance to high school seniors and their families to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), a form needed to receive federal and state financial aid for college tuition.

Staff from Seminole State’s Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships will be available in Student Services (building A) on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus.

The event is part of College Goal Saturday, a state Department of Education effort to break down financial barriers for students who want to go to college. Those who attend the event will be entered in a drawing to win one of two $250 scholarships. This event is open to anyone in the community.

Financial aid also will offer sessions to help students and parents understand more about financial aid. Families are encouraged to bring financial documents with them, including copies of their 2013 tax return, W2 forms and current bank statement.

Counselors will be available in English and Spanish.

For more information about the event, please email Carmen Afghani.
