Sunniland Corp., one of the oldest companies in Central Florida, has been named the presenting sponsor for the Foundation for Seminole State College of Florida’s 30th annual Dream Gala and Dream Cup Challenge Golf Tournament.
“Sunniland and the Moore family have been involved in all 29 Dream Galas leading up to next year, and Tom and Sally [Moore], who are both Seminole State alumni, are pillars in our community,” says Dr. John Gyllin executive director of the Foundation. “We are overjoyed that they have agreed to be our presenting sponsor for this milestone event that impacts so many lives at the College.”
Sunniland, which was recently honored as a Corporate Champion, the Foundation’s highest award, has a long history as a supporter of Seminole State that begins even before the College held its first classes. Chase & Co., the predecessor to Sunniland, sold the land that created Seminole Junior College in 1966, and Lee Moore, then owner of Sunniland, a mayor of Sanford and former Seminole State trustee, often provided financial support to the College in its early days.
Seminole State’s Ann Wiggins Moore Center for Nursing and Healthcare Professionals is named in honor of Lee Moore’s late wife. After his wife’s passing in 1990, Moore established the Ann Wiggins Moore Memorial Endowed Nursing Scholarship by donating $250,000 and helped to expand the College’s nursing programs first at the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus and then at the Altamonte Springs Campus with $700,000 in donations.
“With this being the 30th year of the Dream Gala we wanted to do something special!” says Tom Moore, president and CEO of Sunniland. “Being the presenting sponsor is an honor for Sunniland and my family. We have been a part of this event from the start, and also Sunniland will celebrate its 130th anniversary in January 2014 as well.”
As the 2014 Dream Gala approaches, sponsors are lining up, including the Central Florida Auto Dealers Association (CFADA), which donated a 2014 Ford Escape as the gala’s car raffle sponsor. Sponsorship packages are still available.
The 30th annual Dream Gala is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at the Orlando Marriot Lake Mary. To learn more about the Dream Gala or to purchase sponsor packages and individual seats, please visit dream-gala.com, or contact Miranda Burrowes at firstname.lastname@example.org or 407.708.4572.
Proceeds from the Dream Gala benefit Seminole State student scholarships, faculty programs and areas of greatest need at the College. The Dream Gala is the Foundation’s biggest fundraiser with more than $2.8 million raised to date for the College and its students.
