The Foundation for Seminole State College has added 15 new members to its Board of Directors as it gears up for a planned $12 million comprehensive fundraising campaign for student success beginning in 2015.
New Foundation Board Chairman Dennis Bowman challenged members at the first meeting of the year on Sept. 24. Bowman’s message to board members: “One-on-one gets things done.” He encouraged board members to sit down with potential supporters of the College one-on-one to explore connections and areas of support.
The board also set an overall goal for the 2013-14 fiscal year of $2 million in total gifts and 1,000 donors.
Foundation Executive Director Dr. John Gyllin says board support and the addition of these new members are vital as the Foundation prepares for the launch of a major fundraising campaign next year.
“As the College’s 50th anniversary approaches, Seminole State has an incredible opportunity to change the lives of students and impact education in Central Florida,” Gyllin says. “These business and community leaders on our board have the passion and connections to help our fundraising efforts achieve great success.”

The Foundation recently celebrated more than $1.5 million in scholarship and program support for the College and its students in 2012-13.
