City of Altamonte Springs receives College's highest honor

Altamonte Springs Mayor Patricia Bates and City Manager Frank Martz accept the Community Pathfinder Award, Seminole State's highest honor.

Seminole State College of Florida President Dr. E. Ann McGee presented this year’s Community Pathfinder Award to the City of Altamonte Springs during the College’s eighth annual Collegewide Convocation on Sept. 17.

"Our Altamonte Springs Campus would not be what it is today if not for the City of Altamonte Springs," McGee said in presenting the award. "The seeds of this outstanding partnership were planted years ago and will continue to blossom and bear fruit for decades to come." 

Seminole State is partnering with the City of Altamonte Springs on expanding the campus, which opened in 2008. A master plan calls for utilizing public-private partnerships to build eight new high-rise buildings and parking structures at the campus, creating 1.4 million square feet of space, more than the College's four campuses combined.

Accepting the award on behalf of Altamonte Springs were Mayor Patricia Bates and City Manager Frank Martz. 

The Collegewide Convocation is an annual gathering of faculty and staff.

The Pathfinder Award recognizes those who continuously strive to make a difference for Seminole State College.
