Seminole State College of Florida alumna Tatiana Viecco is on her way to Cambridge University in England to earn a master’s in engineering.

The Colombia native, who arrived in Florida in 2007 speaking little English, was an honors student at Seminole State and a 2010 graduate. On May 2, she will graduate from UCF with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering.

To complete her studies at Cambridge, Viecco has received a Continuing Graduate Fellowship from the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation worth up to $50,000 annually. She is also one of 2,000 students in the country to receive a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, which pays up to $42,000 annually. At UCF, Viecco earned the Order of Pegasus Award, UCF’s top academic award.
