Students receiving their degrees in two of Seminole State College of Florida’s new bachelor’s programs will be among the graduates participating in Spring 2013 Commencement.
More than 2,400 bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees and program certificates will be awarded this term, according to the Department of Enrollment Services. That number will include 37 bachelor’s degrees in the Business and Information Management and Construction programs, which began in January 2012, as well as the Interior Design program.
The College’s first four-year students received their bachelor’s degrees in Interior Design in December 2011.
Students will cross the stage on Sunday, May 5, at 2 p.m. during Commencement in the University of Central Florida Arena.
NBA Coach Stan Van Gundy, who led the Orlando Magic for five years and is a strong supporter of public education, will be the guest speaker.
As head coach of the Magic from 2007-2012, Van Gundy led the team to five postseason berths, three Southeast Division titles and the 2009 Eastern Conference crown.
Van Gundy and his wife, Kim, live in Lake Mary with their four children. Van Gundy was a vocal supporter of the ballot initiative to raise Seminole County’s millage tax to generate $25 million for the school system’s operating budget. That initiative passed 56-44 percent.
Tickets are required for admission to the College graduation ceremony and are available at Student Services (building A) on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus on the following days:
