Quotes about the name change

Here are some comments from board members and students about the College's name change:

Board member Chris Dorworth:
"One thing I like about the new name is that it's tied to the community."

Board member Cynthia L. Drago:
"Seminole is a longstanding, respected name in Florida. It honors our tradition while embracing a new era."

Board Chairman Lisa Michelle Greer:
"We're one of the best community colleges in the state and in the nation as well. The transition will be as smooth as can be. We're not changing our open door policy but broadening it and providing even more opportunities."

Board Vice Chairman Scott Howatt:
"Even though we're dropping 'community' from our name, we're not dropping the community" from the College's mission.

Alex Lambis, SGA president for the College's Sanford/Lake Mary Campus:
"When they first announced their intention to change the name, I voted for Seminole State, so things came out in my favor. Seminole is such a big part of our tradition and history."

Rachel Clarke, SGA vice president for the College's Sanford/Lake Mary Campus:
"I appreciate the fact that they kept Seminole in the name. I'm proud of the name because of its history and tradition in the state of Florida as well as in the county."
