Seminole State College freshman Lauren Vinson has been named this week's Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Vinson, of Prince George, Va., went 3-0 last week, striking out 15 batters and posting a 1.15 ERA in four appearances. The right-hander pitched 1.1 innings of relief on March 15, picking up the game 1 win in the Raiders' 5-4 defeat of St. Petersburg College. On March 17, Vinson earned a complete-game win against Mid-Florida Conference foe Lake-Sumter Community College, scattering four hits and striking out seven batters to lead the Raiders to a 4-1 game 1 victory. She also earned a complete-game win over fifth-ranked Santa Fe College on March 19, throwing eight innings to secure the Raiders' 5-3 game 2 upset.
Seminole State made its first appearance of the season in the FCSAA Softball Coaches' Poll this week, replacing Polk State College at the No.-10 spot.
The Raiders, who have won five straight games, will try to extend their win streak and improve to 32-15 (10-2 MFC) on the season against Florida State College at Jacksonville on Saturday, March 26. The doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. at Raider Softball Field on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus. All home games are free for Seminole State students, faculty and staff with a valid College ID.
